Brandon has always been fascinated by people and it's his penchant for exploring human foibles, triumphs and challenges that provides the foundation for Blue Mountain. "I wanted to get out of myself a little bit on this one," Brandon says with a grin. "I like to write story songs and I like characters. I wanted to create some characters. I realized that while I was writing this record about other characters, really it's about me."

Thematically, Leaving Eden's opener and title track speaks to a new awareness in Brandon’s life that the problems of the world exist in part because of the knowledge of good and evil. However, even amidst innocence being slowly chipped away, Heath believes the world can be changed, even if it’s just one decision at a time.
